How much are crowns in Turkey vs the UK?

The per-crown gap is wide, but the trip has a fixed cost that a single crown has to carry on its own. Flights and a few nights in a hotel will typically run several hundred pounds, and a crown needs two visits a few days apart, so it is not a day trip. On one crown that overhead can be most of what you saved.

From about four crowns the arithmetic inverts, because the fixed cost is unchanged while the saving multiplies. This is why almost nobody flies for one crown and a great many people fly for six — and why a clinic quoting you for a single unit should be asked, honestly, whether it is worth your while.

Three things are routinely missing from a crown quote and all three are normal, not sharp practice. The first is the temporary crown you wear between the two visits. The second is any root canal the tooth turns out to need once the decay is cleaned out, which cannot be established from a photograph. The third is the core build-up under the crown where there is not enough natural tooth left to hold it.

None of these are large individually. Together they can add meaningfully to a multi-crown case, and they are the most common reason a final bill differs from the number someone was quoted before travelling. Ask for them to be priced as possibilities up front, so a change later is a decision rather than a surprise.

It is tempting to read the gap as a quality difference and it mostly is not. Materials are traded internationally at similar prices, and a zirconia block costs a Turkish laboratory roughly what it costs a British one. What differs is the cost of the practice around it — premises, staff, insurance, regulatory overhead and the general cost of living.

Where quality genuinely varies is in the laboratory and the dentist, not the country. A well-made crown from a good technician fits precisely at the margin and does not irritate the gum; a poorly made one causes trouble regardless of where it was made or what it cost.
