What UK patients actually pay for dental implants in 2026 — NHS band charges, private clinic quotes, and the real cost of going abroad. By someone who has reviewed 200+ clinic proposals.
By Adam Smith, Head of Patient Research at MyDentalFly. Updated June 2026.
A single dental implant in the UK now costs between £2,000 and £5,500 depending on where you live, who places it, and what brand they use. That is not a typo — the range really is that wide. After reviewing over 200 clinic proposals across the UK, Turkey, Hungary, and Poland, here is what I have found about where UK patients actually get the best value.
What Does the NHS Cover for Dental Implants?
Almost nothing. Dental implants are not available on the NHS except in rare cases where tooth loss is caused by:
- Head and neck cancer treatment
- Severe trauma (road accidents, assault)
- Hypodontia (congenitally missing teeth — typically 6+ teeth absent)
If you fall outside these categories, the NHS will offer dentures or a bridge. The NHS Band 3 charge is £319.10 in England (2026), which covers crowns, dentures, and bridges — but not implants.
The reality for most UK patients: you are paying privately, or you are going abroad. There is no middle option.
Private Dental Implant Prices Across the UK (2026)
We surveyed pricing from 40+ private clinics across the UK. These are real quotes, not list prices:
| Region | Single Implant (inc. crown) | All-on-4 (per arch) | Full Mouth (both arches) |
|---|---|---|---|
| London (Harley St area) | £3,500–£5,500 | £12,000–£18,000 | £25,000–£35,000 |
| London (Zone 2-4) | £2,800–£4,000 | £10,000–£15,000 | £20,000–£28,000 |
| South East | £2,500–£3,800 | £9,000–£14,000 | £18,000–£26,000 |
| Midlands | £2,200–£3,200 | £8,000–£12,000 | £16,000–£24,000 |
| North | £2,000–£3,000 | £7,500–£11,000 | £15,000–£22,000 |
| Scotland | £2,000–£3,200 | £8,000–£12,000 | £16,000–£23,000 |
| Wales | £1,800–£2,800 | £7,000–£10,000 | £14,000–£20,000 |
| Northern Ireland | £1,800–£2,600 | £7,000–£10,000 | £14,000–£19,000 |
Key finding: A single implant in London costs what a full arch costs in Istanbul. That is the gap that drives 200,000+ British patients abroad every year.
What About Going Abroad? The Real Numbers
Here is what the same treatments cost at clinics we have personally vetted:
| Treatment | UK Average | Turkey (vetted clinics) | Hungary | Poland | Saving |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Single implant + crown | £3,000 | £700–£1,200 | £900–£1,400 | £800–£1,300 | 55–75% |
| All-on-4 (one arch) | £10,000 | £3,500–£5,500 | £4,500–£6,500 | £4,000–£6,000 | 45–65% |
| Full mouth (both arches) | £20,000 | £7,000–£12,000 | £9,000–£14,000 | £8,000–£12,000 | 40–60% |
| 20 zirconia crowns | £16,000 | £4,000–£6,000 | £5,000–£8,000 | £5,000–£7,000 | 55–70% |
| 10 porcelain veneers | £6,000 | £2,500–£3,500 | £3,000–£4,000 | £2,800–£3,800 | 40–55% |
Important: The Turkey prices above are from clinics charging £180–£280 per zirconia crown — the ethical price range. If a clinic quotes £100 per crown or less, they are cutting corners on materials, technicians, or planning time. Read our red flags checklist below.

Why Are UK Prices So Much Higher?
It is not a scam or a rip-off. UK dental costs are genuinely high because of:
-
Lab fees — A UK dental laboratory charges £150–£300 per zirconia crown. Turkish labs charge £30–£60 for equivalent materials. Same CAD/CAM machines, same zirconia blocks, lower labour costs.
-
Overheads — UK dental practices in urban areas pay £50,000–£150,000/year in rent. A Turkish clinic in Antalya might pay £15,000.
-
Staff costs — A UK dental nurse earns £25,000–£35,000. A Turkish dental nurse earns £6,000–£10,000. Neither is overpaid — it reflects the cost of living.
-
Regulatory compliance — CQC registration, indemnity insurance, NHS pension contributions, CPD requirements. All necessary, all expensive.
-
Dentist training debt — UK dentists finish training with £50,000–£100,000 in student debt. This is priced into their fees for the first decade of practice.
The savings abroad come from lower operating costs, not lower clinical standards. The question is whether the specific clinic you choose maintains standards equivalent to what you would expect in the UK.
How to Choose a Clinic Abroad (If You Are a UK Patient)
We have helped UK patients from London, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Leeds, and Bristol find vetted clinics. Here is what matters most:
Non-negotiable requirements:
- CBCT (3D) scan before any implant placement — not just a panoramic X-ray
- Named treating dentist with verifiable qualifications
- Written treatment plan with itemised pricing (not "all-inclusive")
- 10-year written warranty with the clinic's legal entity named
- Night-guard included for any full-mouth ceramic work
- Video consultation with the dentist (not a sales coordinator) before paying any deposit
Red flags that UK patients commonly miss:
- "Hollywood Smile in 4 days" — this is not enough time for proper full-arch work
- Package deals that bundle hotel + treatment as one price — you cannot see the clinical cost
- WhatsApp-only communication with no video call option
- No mention of implant brand or zirconia manufacturer
Should I Stay in the UK or Go Abroad?
There is no universal answer. Here is a framework:
Stay in the UK if:
- You need a single implant and can afford £2,500–£3,500
- You have complex medical conditions requiring close coordination with your GP
- You cannot travel for follow-up appointments
- You have dental anxiety that makes a familiar environment important
Consider going abroad if:
- You need multiple implants or full-arch work (the savings become substantial)
- You are quoted £10,000+ in the UK and have researched alternatives
- You are willing to do proper due diligence (video calls, checking credentials, reading our checklist)
- You can travel twice if needed (some complex cases require staged treatment)
What About Financing in the UK?
Most UK dental practices offer 0% finance on treatments over £1,000. Typical terms:
- 0% APR over 6–12 months (most common)
- Low-rate APR (8–15%) over 24–60 months
- Dental loans from specialist lenders (Chrysalis Finance, Tabeo, DentiCare)
A single implant at £3,000 on 12-month 0% finance is £250/month. An All-on-4 at £10,000 is £833/month.
For comparison: an All-on-4 abroad at £4,500 total (including flights and hotel) is less than 6 months of UK finance payments for the same procedure.
Your Next Step
If you are researching costs, you are already further along than most patients. The next step is understanding what you actually need — not what a clinic wants to sell you.
