Or ask me — I can…

Dental implants cost £2,000-£3,000 each in the UK. Realistic alternatives if that's out of reach — without settling for dentures.
You need dental implants but you can't afford them. Not in the UK, anyway. At £2,500-£3,500 per implant, a full mouth restoration costs more than a car. NHS coverage for implants is almost non-existent. Finance plans just spread the pain over years with interest.
You're not stuck with those options. Here's what people are actually doing.
Why the NHS Won't Help (Usually)
Dental implants are classified as cosmetic by the NHS in almost all cases. Band 3 treatment (the maximum) costs £319.10 and covers dentures or bridges — not implants. The only exceptions:
- Oral cancer patients needing reconstruction
- Severe facial trauma
- Medical conditions making dentures impossible (e.g., severe gag reflex with documented medical evidence)
Don't fit these categories? Implants are entirely self-funded. Waiting lists for NHS exemptions run 18-24 months even when you do qualify.
Option 1: Get Implants Abroad (Save 50-70%)
This works for most people. Dental clinics in Turkey, Hungary, and Poland charge a fraction of UK prices for identical implant brands and procedures.
| What You Need | UK Cost | Turkey Cost | You Save |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 implant + crown | £2,500 | £700 | £1,800 |
| 4 implants + crowns | £10,000 | £2,800 | £7,200 |
| All-on-4 (one jaw) | £15,000 | £4,500 | £10,500 |
| All-on-4 (both jaws) | £28,000 | £8,500 | £19,500 |
Including travel costs (flights £150-£300 return, hotel £300-£700 for the stay), you're still saving thousands. For full-arch work, the savings can fund the entire trip plus a family holiday.
Why it's the same quality: These clinics use Nobel Biocare, Straumann, and Osstem — the same implant systems used in UK practices. The dentists train in the same techniques.
The difference? Overhead costs. Rent in Istanbul is 80% lower than London.
The catch: You need to choose carefully. An accredited clinic with a specialist implantologist is essential. Getting a proper dental assessment before you travel means you arrive with a clear treatment plan and verified pricing.
Option 2: 0% Finance Plans
Most UK dental practices offer finance through providers like Chrysalis Finance or Dental Finance. Typical terms:
- 0% APR over 6-12 months — spreads the cost with no interest
- Low APR (4-9%) over 2-5 years — more affordable monthly payments but higher total cost
A single implant at £2,500 on 12-month 0% finance = £208/month. On 24-month finance at 6% APR = £111/month (£2,660 total).
Watch the maths on longer terms. A £15,000 All-on-4 at 9% APR over 5 years costs £18,700 total. At that point, getting it done abroad for £5,000 including travel is clearly better value.
Option 3: Dental Teaching Hospitals
University dental schools offer implant placement at 30-50% below private practice rates. The work is done by qualified dentists completing specialist implant training, supervised by consultants.
Expect £1,000-£1,800 for a single implant.
The trade-off? Longer appointments and waiting times of 3-6 months. But the quality is supervised and generally excellent.

Option 4: Choose a Cost-Effective Implant System
Not all implant brands cost the same. Premium systems (Nobel Biocare, Straumann) cost dentists £300-£500 per implant post. Mid-tier systems (Osstem, MIS, Dentium) cost £100-£200 and have strong clinical evidence backing them.
Osstem is the fourth-largest implant manufacturer globally. MIS implants have 20+ years of published clinical data. Choosing a mid-tier brand can save £500-£800 per implant with minimal difference in long-term outcomes.
Ask your dentist: "What implant brand do you use and why? Would a different system be appropriate for my case?"
Option 5: Implant-Retained Dentures (Lower Cost Full-Arch Solution)
If you need a full arch of teeth and can't afford All-on-4, implant-retained dentures offer a middle ground. Two to four implants anchor a snap-on denture that clips in and out.
| Solution | UK Cost | Implants Used |
|---|---|---|
| All-on-4 fixed bridge | £12,000-£18,000 | 4 per jaw |
| Implant-retained denture | £4,000-£8,000 | 2-4 per jaw |
| Snap-on denture (2 implants) | £3,000-£5,000 | 2 per jaw |
Not as permanent as a fixed bridge, but far more stable than conventional dentures. Most patients report dramatically improved eating and speaking.
What NOT to Do
Don't delay indefinitely. Bone loss continues every month you wait. After 2-3 years without a tooth, you may need bone grafting (£500-£1,500 extra per site) before an implant can be placed.
Don't choose the cheapest option without research. Whether in the UK or abroad, rock-bottom prices usually mean corners being cut — on materials, sterilisation, or dentist experience.
Don't ignore the problem. Missing teeth affect chewing, speech, confidence, and long-term oral health. The longer you wait, the more it costs to fix.

The Smartest First Step
Before comparing prices or contacting any clinic, figure out what you actually need. The dental assessment maps your teeth in 2 minutes and tells you exactly what treatment you're looking at — it's worth about £50 at a private dentist.
The savings calculator then shows you what it costs at verified clinics abroad vs UK prices. For a single implant, most patients save £1,200-£1,500 even after flights and hotel.
We've verified every clinic on our platform and removed eight that didn't meet our standards. Your dental tourism consultant coordinates everything — patient file, clinic communication, deposit protection. You're not navigating this alone.
