Packages bundle treatment, hotel, and transfers. How to tell a genuine deal from a marketing gimmick — and what's never included.
Dental tourism packages promise to include everything — treatment, hotel, transfers, even tours. But what's actually in them, what's extra, and are they worth it compared to booking everything separately?
What a Typical Package Includes
Most dental tourism packages from clinics in Turkey, Hungary, and Poland include:
| Usually Included | Sometimes Included | Rarely Included |
|---|---|---|
| All dental treatment | Airport transfers | Flights |
| Consultation + X-rays | Hotel accommodation | Travel insurance |
| Follow-up appointments | City tours/excursions | Spending money |
| Temporary restorations | VIP lounge transfers | Companion accommodation |
| Medications + aftercare kit | Translator/coordinator | Follow-up with UK dentist |
The key point: "All-inclusive" almost never includes flights. You book those separately, which is actually better — you control timing, airline, and can use reward points or budget carriers.
Package Types Compared
Treatment-Only Package
Just the dental work. You sort your own hotel, transfers, and flights.
Typical price (20 veneers in Turkey): £3,500-£5,000 Works well for: Experienced travellers, repeat visitors, budget-conscious patients.
Treatment + Hotel Package
Dental work plus 5-7 nights in a partner hotel (usually 4-star).
Typical price (20 veneers in Turkey): £4,000-£6,000 Works well for: First-time dental tourists who want simplicity.
Full Concierge Package
Treatment, hotel, airport transfers, city tours, dedicated patient coordinator, sometimes companion accommodation.
Typical price (20 veneers in Turkey): £5,000-£7,500 Works well for: Patients bringing a partner or family, those wanting a premium experience.
The Hidden Costs Nobody Mentions
Even with a "complete" package, budget for these extras:
Flights: £100-£400 return depending on destination and timing. Book early for decent fares.
Extra hotel nights: If your treatment requires two visits (common for implants), you'll need a second trip. Some packages only cover one visit.
Preparatory work: The package price assumes healthy gums and adequate bone. Need gum treatment, extractions, or bone grafting? That's extra. This is why a pre-travel assessment matters — you'll know about these costs before you book.
Temporary restorations between visits: For treatments requiring lab work (veneers, crowns), you may wear temporaries for 1-2 weeks. Some packages include these, others charge £10-£20 per tooth.
Medications: Post-treatment antibiotics and painkillers. Budget £20-£50.
Food and personal spending: Turkey is affordable — expect £20-£40/day for meals and incidentals.
Red Flags in Package Deals
No itemised pricing. If a package just says "20 veneers + hotel = £4,999" without breaking down treatment costs separately, you can't compare the dental work against other clinics. Always ask for itemised pricing.
"Limited time offer" pressure. Legitimate clinics don't need countdown timers. Your teeth will still be there next month.
Unusually low prices. If a package is 40-50% cheaper than competitors, question what's being sacrificed. Cheaper materials (composite vs porcelain), less experienced dentists, or substandard labs are common explanations.
No mention of pre-assessment. A good clinic wants to see your dental situation before quoting. If they're offering a fixed package without knowing your teeth, they're guessing — and you'll pay for any surprises.
Vague material descriptions. "High-quality porcelain veneers" means nothing. You want specific brand names: E.max, Cerec, zirconia from specific labs.
How to Compare Packages Properly
Strip out the non-dental costs and compare like-for-like:
- Get the treatment cost alone — ask each clinic to quote just the dental work
- Compare material brands — same brand across clinics means same material quality
- Check the dentist's credentials — who specifically will do your work?
- Verify the hotel independently — search the hotel name, check reviews, see if the package rate is actually a good deal
- Ask about second visits — are both trips covered, or just the first?
A Better Approach
Rather than browsing package deals, start with what you actually need.
A dental assessment takes 10 minutes and tells you exactly which treatments are recommended for your teeth. Then you can compare real prices from multiple verified clinics — all transparent, all itemised.
This way, you're comparing treatment plans, not marketing packages. You avoid the surprise of arriving at a clinic to discover you need £2,000 of extra work that wasn't in the "package."
Get your free assessment and compare real clinic prices — no package markup, no hidden fees.
